I do not have it working, but might have some samples/tests in backups.

The idea is good, but taylor-made solutions might be easier to implement until a generic solution is available.
A perl-script which proxies and filterss the queries should be enough at first.

do you have a working version of your idea for the mysql postgresql proxy? i would need it for an occasion where i can not modify the client source and need to rewrite a query on the fly to be able to use some performance modifications …
