How to remove all appointments from pocketpc/pda windows mobile calendar

When you want a fresh calendar, and need to re-sync all data with your exchange/zarafa server, you will have to manually delete all appointments.

There is an easy hack on how to remove all appointments from your pocketpc calendar:

  1. Disconnect smartphone from PC.

  2. Open ActiveSync on the smartphone.
  3. Go to Menu, Options.
  4. Untick “Calendar” from the list of items to synchronise.
  5. It will prompt you to delete all calendar items (synchronised with your PC).
  6. Check your calendar is empty.
  7. Close and re-open Activesync (on the smartphone).
  8. Re-tick the calendar item on the sync list.

To DVI or not to DVI Part 2

Published by pj under bugs,hardware

After my dramatic attempt to get my hands on an IIyama E2200WS last weekend, the friendly people at graficall sold me a *real* E2200WS.

I had to negotiate a new sleeping place with the cats, though:

(apologies on the low motorola SLVR resolution)

Iiyama E2200WS: To DVI or not to DVI?

Published by pj under hardware

This E2200WS Iiyama 22″ TFT, does it have a DVI connector?

Let’s see:

  • The box it shipped in has the “DVI” logo
  • All online tests I read, wrote about it having a DVI connector
  • Salesperson at Computerland said it contained everything I needed for DVI

Let’s take a look at what the manual thinks:
[screenshot of manual]

I take a second look at the box, and see: “Iiyama E2200WSV-B”. This type cannot be found on the iiyama website, nor any reviews seem to mention any differences.

What is happening here? I can return my E2200WSV-B to swap it for a E2200WS if I pay 50 more euro’s. It would have saved me several extra trips to the computer shop, due to the new one not being in stock.
Why, Iiyama?!

SMC 2652W AP password reset

Published by pj under hardware

As page 8 of the online manual of the SMC 2652W AP is “broken” in Adobe Acrobat Reader, the procedure for resetting the access point to factory defaults is:

  1. Power off the SMC2652W
  2. Keep the reset button pressed, and power it on while keeping it pressed
  3. Wait till the “Wireless activity” and “Wireless connection” leds start blinking
  4. Release the reset button
  5. You can now switch modes by pressing the reset button shortly. The modes are:
Connection Activity function
off off normal boot
off on reset to factory defaults
on off boot an primary firmware (?)
on on normal boot
